Very emotional read/ Likable hero and heroin
I was impressed with this book, due to the hero's respect towards the heroin, and the heroin was strong, likable and vulnerable at the same time. I am not going to go in to details, that have been already said, but I would like to add that it's not often that I am so emotionally drown in a story, and if I am then its worth reading, because this book delivered solid plot, there was no hate that took over the book, like I find in too many harlequin books, I like that the hero admitted his mistakes, early in the book which is very refreshing and he did not push her or tried to dominate her, he did not tried to take their son away and he protected her which took my breath away.

The heroin was very brave and strong and I like the fact that she did not want to be bayed by the hero's family or him, she show self respect and determination to prove that money it's not everything and she could cope just without it and still be happy with her son. I was so shaking, when they both tried to do what's best for their son which I though was very mature, and the past was still there, make it even harder, especially for the heroin and I honestly though that she was so strong to get through all the humiliation and struggle being along with her son, that I wish there would be more authors addressing the heroin in that way.

The only thing that stop me from giving 5 stars, is the fact that they went to bed to quickly for my liking, I know the chemistry was there and they were attracted to each other, but I would want them to be more slow, as 6 years of separation is a lot to take it and require some patience and time, but that's just my personal preference. Also the hero should show more reasoning after the incident with the pictures of the heroin and he should try to find out what really happen and not allow to be dominated by his family, that being said, he proved later in the book that he was worth the heroin, so I recommend this book.

forgiveness
Luc believed some photos that showed his mistress in a very compromising position with his own brother. He then got rid of her believing family over her. Six years later he discovers that his brother lied and that his own father put him up to it. He then throws himself full throttle in to getting Skye back. Believing her in all things and questioning his own father. Very nice story about forgiveness and getting past preconceived notions of another. The characters were well drawn but I suppose there was a question to get past though. If Luc believed that his own brother would betray him like that why did he continue to get along with him? Why did he continue to have a relationship with him but toss Skye out to the street? The only thing that makes since is that Roberto was his brother and he could forgive him but not Skye. Yet one would think that is a line that a BROTHER should never cross!! (therefore the reason for 4 stars)
Story of love reunited, family, forgiveness and lessons of compromise .....
The Italian's Stolen Bride by Emma Darcy
Harlequin Presents # 2469 - June 2005
Presents theme ~ Italian Husbands

Luc Perretti's life is shattered for a second time when his brother, Roberto confesses on his deathbed that he'd betrayed him and that the evidence presented to Luc against the woman he loved had all been lies. To add another slash to his heart, Roberto confesses that it was their father who had been behind the deceit and that Luc needs to find Skye because she had been pregnant six years ago, and Luc may very well be a father. Seeing Luc waiting for her and her son, outside her modest home, sends a cold fear through Skye Sumner. And dare she believe him when he asks for forgiveness in not believing her against the evil lies told. Their attraction is as strong as it had ever been, and Skye can't help feeling the pull. But she can't stop the fear that Luc or his powerful family will find a way to take her son away from her. She can't help but see the intense pain in Luc caused by his family, but she can't let that sway her resolve to protect her son at all costs.

From the very first page Ms. Darcy hooked me in. She created characters that I could care about. I loved the way she gave us both Luc's and Skye's point of view. I loved the way words out of the mouths of babes were used to simplify and resolve the true underlying conflict at the end of the book. I'm not usually a huge fan of Reunion stories (I've always liked to read about the first moment when a character realizes they are in love), however, this one was written with emotional intensity and I couldn't put it down without knowing what path the characters would be forced to take. This story is about love reunited, family, forgiveness, and lessons of compromise for those we love. I read it in one sitting, and have since devoured it again! :D
Great Read
I enjoyed reading this book; it was different from the typical HP books because the hero realizes his family's deceit very early (1st chapter). Years ago Luc's family made Skye out to be "loose" providing very convincing false evidence, leading to their breakup. His brother informs Luc (several years later)that all may not be, as it seemed and that he may be a father as well.

Luc sets out to prove to Skye that he is sorry for not believing in her and that she can trust him once more. In Luc's defense the deception was well planned and executed by his family.

There is some strong emotional dialogue from the beginning and I definitely recommend this book. I plan on reading many more Emma Darcy books.

The Hero Must Prove Himself
I loved this book. This book is unique, because in this story the hero, Luc Peretti must prove himself to the heroine, Skye Summers after doing her so wrong in an earlier relationship between the two.
Luc finds out from his brother's deathbed confession that he totally misjudged Skye Summers. Luc's family did not approve of his love affair with Skye and created a lie about Skye's supposed involvement with Luc's brother. Luc believed the lie and sent Skye packing. Fast forward several years later, Luc finds out that he is the father of Skye's son. The whole storyline focuses on Luc trying to win Skye's love and gain his newfound family.

It is a pleasure to read a romance story where the strong alpha male admits his wrong early in the story and bends over backwards to win the love of his true love. The story was believable and the heroine was both strong and noble.

A Scandalous Marriage: A poker game leads to passionate romance
Charlotte Ramsey was born an heiress but that didn't stop her from trying to make her own way in the world even if it meant marrying a man her family scorned. When Damien Wynter catches a glimpse of Charlotte at her family's home, watch out! It's two weeks until her wedding to Mark but Damien knows how to play poker. When it comes to Charlotte, he is playing to win. When her marriage plans go up in smoke, Charlotte hears the tick of her biological clock resonating like a huge bell tower ringing off the hours. Charlotte certainly knows how to play poker and work the percentages of chance. The question is who is the better poker player and can the game lead Charlotte to what she never found before?

Okay, Damien Wynter is definitely in that Alpha male category I hate --- so why then do I love Emma Darcy and this book? I just love the way Emma Darcy writes her heroines! They are not these thin anorexic women and in this romance Darcy dared to write a romance where the heroine (at least in her own eyes) is plain and not given this model-like appearance. It is the heroine's spirit and intelligence that electrifies. She may rebel against her father, but no one has anything on Charlotte Ramsey. When the going gets tough and she faces a challenge, she knows how to play poker with daring and gusto! Emma Darcy's heroines certainly are not submissive today when it comes to these Alpha Males...this heroine may bluff submissiveness but playing poker is no game for shrinking violets and she plays to win.

I did like Emma Darcy's The Playboy Boss's Chosen Bride a bit better than this one just because I liked the hero a bit better. Nevertheless, the heroine is classic Darcy: intelligent, spunky and more than a pretty appearance.
Back To The Drawing Board
I have to say I was highly unimpressed by this lastest work of Emma Darcy's. I think its the fastest book I have ever read for a number of reasons. One because I couldn't relate to these "SUPER" wealthy characters Charlotte and Damien I thought Charlotte was a bit whiney and naive, about really knowning her "orginal" fiance's character although the author portrayed her as a intelligent take no nonsense kinda "gal", she didn't come across as such to me. Damien of course was the typical harlequin alpha-male "see woman" "want woman" "get woman" mentality of course he gets the girl for the exercising of his determination, and least not for get his GQ cover looks and mega bucks status. The only saving grace of this book as that the author gave you a glimpse of the inner workings of the hero in this book. After that there is just to much inconsistancies, the storyline is rushed. Damien becomes the subsitute stand-n fiance for Charlotte so she won't loose face over the fact that she jilted her "orginal" fiance because finally figuring out he was a gold-digger and a social climber (although all the other characters figured this out from the word "go") It takes his refusal or rather under duress refusal to sign a pre-nuptiual agreement. Enter's Damien who wants her for himself and is willing to marry her and give her what she wants which is security and oops did I forget a baby all in the bargain. After that I can honestly say I didn't enjoy this book at all I skipped so many pages its a miracle I even got the plot. The author seemed as if she didn't enjoy writing this book, the plot was rushed and the characters as a whole didn't leave you believing they were actually in love with one another or that they even grew to understand one another to let like, understanding and eventually love develop.....

Customer Reviews

'Twas okay
I expected a little more romance in this. Megan was a tad too dramatic at times. It took a long time for the relationship to really become passionate because the past kept being brought up in the middle of conversations. It was sort of distracting, but other than this, I think the story was decent. Emma is still a great writer nonetheless.

Heorine a bit of a doormat!
I found the heroin a bit on the whimpy side. She of course loved him and I believe that she did but I didn't believe that he loved her. The only reason he hooked up with her again was to use her for his own ends. Of course he changed his mind but it seemed a bit abrupt especially given that he could sleep with her 11 months earlier for one night only and then move on to another woman never even wondering how that affected Tess emotionally. For some reason she had to drop everything and appear for him for some movie premier. I think it would have been better if he had to work for it a bit more!!
A passionately intense love story .....
The Ramirez Brides Trilogy
Brazilian polo player, Enrique Ramirez had sown a lot of oats in his youth. Traveling with the team around the world put the charismatic Enrique in the company of many exotic women. Now years later, three couriers deliver three messages to three men. One in Australia - one in England - one in America. Until this moment these men did not know the others existed. They are half brothers and if they wish to know each other they must follow their father's demands or all will be forfeit.

The Ramirez Bride by Emma Darcy
Harlequin Presents # 2487 - September 2005
The Ramirez Brides - Book # 1

Nick hated his biological father. When he was 18, he'd sought him out and been rejected. But family means everything to Nick, and he desires more than anything to meet his half brothers. But his father's instructions are clear. Nick's must marry and produce an heir with a year. Nick has never been one for lasting relationship, but he finds himself seeking out Tessa. They'd had a brief affair, and he'd ended it badly. Now is the time to make amends.

Ms. Darcy's heroes are always strong men who often find themselves having to reevaluate their lives. Nick has to do this, when he's faced with the wrong decisions made in his past. Tessa loves Nick deeply, but fights to protect her heart from further breaking. Theirs is a passionately intense love story with a well-fought HEA. :D

The Brazilian's Blackmailed Bride by Michelle Reid - HP-2493 - October 2005
The Disobedient Virgin by Sandra Marton - HP-2499 - November 2005

All three brothers do fulfill their father's demands. And in the doing discover that their father may have known them very well indeed. These three very talented authors brought to life three dynamic men who share the same blood. I enjoyed very much reading their journeys of self-discovery and their HEAs.

First in Ramirez Bride Trilogy
Millionaire Nick Ramirez learns that he has two brothers he has never met but in order to find out their identities he must fulfill a clause in his late father's will, find a women he can love and be faithful to, marry her and have a child within a year. Nick never had a relationship with his natural father, he found out when he was seven that the man he thought was his father, Brian Steele, was not, but that he was the result of an affair his mother Nadia had with soccer star, Enrique Ramirez. Nick can only think of one woman who he would consider marrying, and that is Tess Steele, Brian Steele's biological daughter with whom Nick had a passionate one night stand about a year ago. Unbeknownst to Nick, Tess became pregnant and had a son, Zach who is now 9 weeks old. Believing Nick has found out about Zach and that is why he is telling her he wants to get married, Tess confesses about Zach. After Nick sees Zach, he knows he will stop at nothing to get Tess and Zach as his....after a confrontation with Nick's greedy mother, Tess believes Nick has married her to get an inheritance from his late father...can Nick convince her that all he wants is her and Zach?

This was a sweet passionate story and it does reflect on the damage that selfish parents can inflict on their kids. At the end of this story, we find out that in order to find out about the two brothers, all three must fulfill a "mission" set forth in their father's will...I look forward to the next book, The Brazilian's Blackmailed Bride....

Comments:
Nick lives in a fast paced environment surrounded by women and luxury. However, he had to fight his way to the top. He basically grew up with little love and comfort from either one of his parents. His mother used her looks to climb the social ladder and married more than four times to get there. Nick also discovered who he thought was his father wasn't and he went to see his real father in Brazil. Unfortunately, his biological father wanted nothing to do with him. Well, Nick's father dies and interestingly he list Nick in his will. The inheritance is Nick will be given the names of his two long lost brothers if he marries and has a child in one year. Nick has the perfect candidate in mind. Tessa Steele. They had one night of passion, but no relationship ever came about despite the fact they remained business partners. Little does Nick know that their one night of passion would connect them forever. The relationship between Nick and Tessa was rocky for the most part. Tessa really was looking for love herself and she had deep feelings for Nick. Nick on the other hand was the love them and leave them type. However, after Nick discovered that part of his stipulation for the inheritance had already been completed he starts to see Tessa in a different light. He wants to make things work with her and eventually he realizes that perhaps Tessa is the key to the empty void in his life. Overall, this book was an easy read. A lot of passionate feelings from Nick towards Tessa. Tessa just really wanted Nick to love her. Sometimes I did think that Tessa let Nick steamroll over her, but she stood her ground most of the time.

Ruthless Billionaire; Forbidden Baby!!!!!!
This book has made it's way to number two out of 25. Fletcher meets Tammy at his sisters wedding, and its magic or in Fletcher's term lighting. Although they clash head first Fletcher is determined to get Tammy into his bed because he feels that there is something there. He as a dislike for marriages better yet he doesn't believe in them, yet he attends his sisters friends own just to meet up with Tammy time after time. When she tells him that she is pregnant he does the gentleman thing and proposes that they get married and move in together to raise the child. Tammy doesn't want this because she believes that for two people to want to get married they should love each other not just do it because they are bringing a child to the world. They get into an argument that made me feel like I was involved. This book is worth it....
Three Cheers for Emma Darcy
I've always been a huge fan of Emma Darcy and out of all the stories she has ever written, this one truly made my hour in reading. (I'm a voracious and fast reader, I can't help it!)

Tamalyn meets Fletcher at a friend's wedding and there is an instant connection. Warned off by her friend, who just so happens to be Fletcher's sister, Tamalyn is intrigued. Her friend tells her that Fletcher is a boy genius and a loner, who just happens to have made an incredible fortune from his intelligence. He has a predilection for models. From there, it seems like a rocky start and it is - Fletcher wants more from her physically, but Tamalyn isn't willing to give it. They meet again at yet another of her friend's wedding where they hit it off, proving that lightning strikes twice, and are able to go further along than at the previous wedding where they first met - she nursed a drunken relative, thus eliminating any time to be spent between them. They meet again at a third wedding of another friend of hers. They realize that what they have between them is something they both want to pursue. Ultimately, Fletcher and Tamalyn go away on vacation together, but at the end of the vacation, break up. Tamalyn discovers she's pregnant, he marries her...and the book continues to soar from there.

The whole theme of the book centers around weddings, the eventual outcome between two people who love each other. It is also about strong friendships.

What I truly enjoyed about this book was not only the banter, but the way Ms. Darcy was able to progress from first meeting to two years later. I loved how the characters evolved and interacted. I loved the fact that Tamalyn had strong friendships to support her in her trying times. I liked that the book had the right balance between the relationship of the hero and heroine along with the relationships between her friends. What more could a girl want than a wonderful husband, a beautiful family, fabulous friends and a lifestyle one would envy? This wasn't an over the top melodramatic piece of HP and frankly, it felt like an anomaly - but a good one!

The romance and the relationship blossomed and was paced in such a way that it was believable and non-contrived. It doesn't feel like anything was rushed; it was incredibly well-paced and definitely one story I would be more than happy to keep in my collection of books.

Even though Ms Darcy has been writing for HP for quite a while, her voice remains fresh and current. Her plots don't have that standard, "I'm a virgin that loses it to an alpha male" schtick. That gets old. Fast. Some of her stories have had that, but what I enjoy is that the 'virgin' theme isn't always in every single one of her books (like it is for some other HP authors), but she can write her heroines as also being more experienced, yet credible.

Thanks, Emma Darcy for writing such a [...] novel. :) I have actually never had a book in the Presents line truly appeal to my heart the way this one did.
A temporary romance?
The very talented Emma Darcy charms her readers again with Ruthless Billionaire, Forbidden Baby. I always love a bridesmaid story and this was no exception with several weddings of her friends taking place, friends who she actually called her family. The first wedding takes place with the first of the gang, Tammy getting married and Tamalyn finds out she's going to be paired with Tammy's brother the famous handsome billionaire. They immediately hit it off and he's determined to peruse her at any cost with the exception of marriage as it's not for him. Other weddings happen throughout the book and each and everyone entertaining to read and watching this couple fight their attraction at each event. Fletch fights it every step of the way and Tamalyn knows that she loves him and will only marry for love!

As you read about their dating and watch their feelings for each other become more than they counted on, you wonder how this couple even came to be as Tamalyn is a mid-wife and he's a genius. Now we've all know someone who doesn't meet with the norm someone who doesn't fit into the social scene, called possibly a "geek" because of their superior intelligence, well that's Fletcher, somewhat of a loner but handsome and known for dating super models and never having relationships. So it surprises not only his sister but Tamalyn when he asks her to go on a vacation to an exclusive island.

Passion? Theirs is explosive and she challenges him. However her friends are an important part of her life and Fletch is a loner. She wants love and family and he doesn't, so how could there ever be a chance for them. To top everything, she finds out she's expecting a baby and is determined to have it and he's determined to be in control of the situation, buys a home for them and is relentless.

Learning of Fletcher's years growing up, how he was treated by his family, school mates was very hard to read. And Tamalyn's lonely childhood just as unfortunate. As one reads their story, it's very obvious they challenge each other and belong together. It's a beautifully written contemporary romance and one I'll long remember.
