    Great, but not the best
This was a pretty good book it had a lot of information. But I have seen some of the books out there, and this is not the best. I would reccomend this book, and if a teen trying to lose weight or get into better shape, I reccomend this book.

    NOTHING NEW.
I was disappointed in this book. There really isn't anything new in it that I haven't read, and it concentrated too much on a workout routine. The author looks great on the cover but doesn't look as good in the photos of the workout, making me doubt it's benefits.

I loved this book. Especially since I will soon be entering the 40 generation and there is so much anxiety and uneasiness of what will happen during the menopause period that it was very refreshing to read such a healthy, happy, and natural way of looking at menopause/perimenopause period... It helps ease the anxiety..... And the exercises are good refreshers and easy to incorporate into everyday life...Great book

This is a great book with tons of information. It really helps put together a way to fit in exercise with all of our busy schedules!! Not to mention how to continue it thought out your life.
Real Life Fit Living - That I can use everyday
Fabulous book that has good solid information on fitness and nutrition for life. Honestly and frankly discusses the physical and emotional problems many of us experience in our forties and beyond; including discussion on ways to alleviate those symptoms. The exercises are easy to follow and can be done in your own home without buying lots of expensive equipment. This is a great lifetime plan!

    Same old same old
I had high hopes for this book, and was disappointed. It offers nothing new, just rehashes the same information that can be found in countless other health/fitness books. It might be helpful to you if you've never bought a book on this subject matter before, but if you've already read and/or owned books on health and fitness for women, save your money. I only wish I'd had the time to really look closely at this book before my 30 day window of opportunity to return it had passed.

great for the hard to motivate
I have always been the type who has a hard time sticking to an exercise routine. After the birth of my third child, the pounds didn't melt away as easily as with the others and I got Kathy's postpartum DVD with Cindy Crawford.I got addicted and loved Kathy's down to earth approach-she gives reminders about form but is not overly exuberant like some trainers. After several weeks I loved the results so much that I checked out this book from the library. There are parts that are still extremely challenging for me,even after about 6 weeks, but I am doing her daily routine faithfully. I ended up purchasing the book from Amazon after enjoying my library copy so much. She really stresses fitness as a lifestyle and gives some great advice and recipes in the book. Plus I can't help but love the celebrity tidbits.
    Anticipating mental fatigue...
I returned the book. Cumbersome. Not what I expected after a promo on TV had gotten me interested. Signed up and doing Jazzercise instead.
Excersizes that work, and easy to do at home
Great book, I recommend it. There are a lot of excersizes that I'd never tried before, as well as some old but good ones. Really tageted the muscles that are the most troublesome, and hard to get to, like back of thighs and arms.
I'd give this more than 5 stars if I could
I really enjoy Kathy Kaehler's approach. The jazzy title aside, she has a very friendly and encouraging way of telling us to be real about genetics and what we can and can't change. For instance, she turns it to herself, saying that she will never have the slim hips of Claudia Schiffer or the long, long legs of Julia Roberts. BUT, as she also says, we can all improve what we DO have. We can, with consistent good nutrition and a fitness program, become our OWN best selves.

Why the jazzy title, then? Well, for one thing, like it or not, celebrities sell...they grab our attention. But there's also a more "noble" reason. As Kathy says, while it's counterproductive to try to look just like any of these Hollywood women, we can use some of them as examples of people who make a commitment to health and fitness and fit this into very busy lives.

Also, there are stories of improvement that can be inspiring. Claudia Schiffer who went from being barely able to do one push-up to doing three sets of fifteen. Jennifer Anniston, whom Kathy says she considers "a perfect example of how you can change your body with regular exercise and a healthy diet." But she makes the note that "she wouldn't have been successful if she had altered her habits for a few weeks or months, then stopped." All through the book, you get the message that these are real women, just like us, with the exception that they're famous...and if they can improve, so can we.

I just checked this out of my library two days ago, so I haven't actually done any of the exercises yet...I'm planning to follow the plan this week. But based on my experience with Kathy's "Workout Class" video, I have no doubt that they'll be both challenging and effective!

I do plan to buy this book because I really appreciate the combination of Kathy's sensible, realistic way of looking at things, her friendly and encouraging way of expressing herself and her obvious skill as a trainer.
Easy to do @ home or on the road
I first saw this book while walking by the book store...quite accidentally really. I LOVE the exercises in this book. They are easy to do, and they can be done while watching TV or in your hotel room. Kathy mentions something about doing exercises while watching a half hour TV show and it stuck with me...why wouldn't I? She loves jumping rope and I never realized how much fun it really is. I use to do it all the time as a kid and it brings me back to those youthful times =) Although I am not crazy about the name dropping of the celebrities and her entire 'how I got here & who I know' story, the exercises are easy to follow and gives a good workout with items you would have around the house even! When I go on the road I take my jump road and a deck of cards (used in a few of her exercises) and I am set! I also like the fact that she lists what muscles are being targeted with each exercise. She has an early morning workout, arms, legs and abs. There is even a boot camp workout.

If you want some exercises that are fun and effective that you can do anywhere in 30 minutes, this book would be worth taking a look at.

Primetime Pregnancy: The Proven Program for Staying in Shape Before and After Your Baby Is Born

    Contemporary Books

    List Price: $16.95

    Description

From celebrity fitness trainer, NBC's Today show fitness consultant, and author of Primetime Bodies Kathy Kaehler comes a realistic and effective fitness program designed to adapt to the body's changes before, during, and after pregnancy. 75 photos.

This book really shines with it's postnatal exercise program
The book includes exercises for the entire 9 months of pregnancy plus a 5-month postnatal exercise plan. The exercises in this book are easily done at home with minimal equipment (some exercises require light hand weights.) There are plenty of photos (though not every exercise has a photo) and good explanations on how to do each exercise. I found the exercises challenging, but not too difficult to do. The prenatal exercises are good, but this book's strong point is the postnatal exercise section. You are virtually guaranteed to get your body back if you follow the plan! The book does a lot of name-dropping and tells about various celebrities and their experiences trying to keep fit during pregnancy. It's supposed to be encouraging, but I found it kind of annoying. This book is strictly about exercise. There are not a lot of pregnancy tips like you find in Denise Austin's pregnancy exercise book or physiological information (see Essential Exercises for the Childbearing Year). If your'e serious about getting back in shape after baby, then this book is worth serious consideration.

    She got me exercisiing
I enjoyed reading this book, and the 6 week program takes you from begiinner to knowing you can do this. I had done the program for 3 weeks in a row, hardly missing a day until my life got so busy. I felt stronger in those 3 weeks than I have in years. I have three girls to run after and I did feel more energy, and flexibility. I plan to continue my exercises with her and I ordered her Real World Fitness book as well. Don't dish her for using the celebrity's names. We all want to look a little like them, so lets read about them.
    Nothing special in here.
A perfectly fine safe exercise program. There is nothing special in here, but there are no false claims (except for the implication that you can look like a star) either. I too found the style of the book to be corny. There is no diet information at all. Personally, I would recommend Denise Austins "Jumpstart". That has an easy to follow diet plan, a decent exercise plan (for beginners only), and her encouraging thoughts of the day.
The exercises are good, but same as her video
I already had the Target and Tone video by Kathy Kaehler (and I absolutely love it!) and I ordered this book to have something to alternate with by her. The book, though, is almost entirely the same exercises as the that video tape. The "Hollywood" format with stories of celebrities is cute but corny and doesn't seem to inspire. I don't seem to remember Claudia Schiffer or Michelle Pfeiffer having to lose weight (or an substantial amount of weight), but they are used as examples of dedication. Who among the "real world" will rise at 4:30 a.m. to exercise? Anyway, if you have her T & T video, skip this book. If you need a good, safe routine to start with from scratch, it's $12 or so well spent.

    Advanced exercisers would be bored.
